Crystal and Tara went above and beyond to care for us! Their gentle, confident, and warm presence during appointments and during birth was everything we needed. I felt consistently listened to, supported, safe, and respected. This was my first birth and I transferred into MI Birth’s care at 36 weeks. I wasn’t sure how things would be, but it was immediately clear that we made an amazing choice. I can’t imagine a more empowering team through a very long labor. Our experience with MI Birth Midwifery was unbelievable. From day one they made me feel so comfortable as a first time mom who didn’t know anyone who had done a home birth before. I learned so much and felt so equipped to give birth naturally as that had always been my dream. When it was time for baby, Tara kept us safe and knew so many things to help me push as I struggled being my first time. She worked so well with my doula, pretty much on top of each other at times but she didn’t think twice! I felt so comfortable in the most vulnerable state I’ve ever been in and it’s all thanks to this team. They are genuine to their core and I couldn’t recommend them more!!

We felt so supported by the team at MI Birth! They bring such a wealth of experience and put it towards really centering me and my family in my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. This made it such a rewarding and empowering birth! I had some co-care at the hospital and I really appreciated Tara and Crystal’s open collaboration, but it was always a breath of fresh air to get out of the overmedicalized hospital birth space and back to the home birth world. I could trust the expertise of Crystal and Tara, knowing that they would make cautious and safe choices and that I wouldn’t be pressured into unnecessary interventions. It was such a joyful and intimate birth. My husband and I really loved being given the space to lean on each other and learn our strength, with someone from the team always nearby when we needed support. I’m so grateful to have loved my birth experience, and I can’t thank Mercedes, Tara, and Crystal enough! What a lovely way to welcome our precious baby into the world—into his very own home."

It’s difficult to adequately express how grateful I am for the Mi Birth Midwifery team and the support I received during my pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Tara, Crystal and the student midwives were so knowledgeable, respectful, caring, and professional. I loved that my prenatal appointments were never rushed. The team always took their time and allowed me ample time and space to ask questions, express concerns, etc. I learned so much about pregnancy and my body and felt truly empowered and confident to make decisions related to my and my baby’s care. An added bonus was that my toddler daughter got to hang out with us during my appts and always loved “helping” the team listen to baby’s heartbeat. Giving birth at home was truly magical and the team treated my labor/birth with the respect it deserved. The best way I can explain their presence during labor is to say that they provided only as much support as I needed/asked for. So very different than my previous birthing experiences. I’m so very glad that I took the leap to hire MiBirth Midwifery and so grateful for the exceptional care provided to me, my baby and my entire family. THANK YOU!

"The team at MI Birth is amazing- I had a great experience having their care for my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum visits! Hold on to your pants, because I loved my experience with this team so much that this review is going to be a long one. I got to know Crystal, Tara, and the different student midwives during the prenatal visits and they all offered excellent care. When I went into labor, both midwives came and two of the students, and it was so nice to have a variety of expertise. I am especially impressed with their ability to offer information and research about choices without bringing in their personal preferences/opinions. In my experience with the team, this truly provides a safe space for the client to take in the information, discuss options with them, and make a decision without feeling judged or pressured by anybody on the care team, even unintentionally. I’ve honestly never had another provider who created such an intentionally inclusive and respectful environment regarding your pregnancy and birth preferences! Whether you are the type to want as little “interference” as possible during pregnancy and birth, or you want a pregnancy and home birth with “more” assistance (more dilation checks, ultrasounds, tests, vaccines, etc), I truly believe they would be a wonderful care team. Crystal and Tara have so much combined experience, and having a team of 2 midwives and several assistants really gave me so much confidence that no matter what other births or circumstances came up, they would be here for me with enough “hands on deck” when I went into labor. And they did- even though they had three births in 24 hours- two back-to-back the day before me, and then mine early in the morning, you never would have guessed it when they showed up for me. They were fully prepared, focused, and not distracted, with enough people to handle that kind of packed schedule and they gave me exactly the support and care that I wanted and needed. I don’t think I’d want to go back to a working with a home birth midwife who works alone, or with only one assistant, now that I’ve experienced working with a team of two midwives! I’m kind of spoiled. 😂 My experience with the MI Birth team has been kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable care from a team that can support you without pressuring you. We would love to have their support again for future pregnancies!"

"I have only good things to say about the midwives from MI Birth Midwifery. I had my first homebirth delivering my third child with their help. Their level of care from prenatal appointments, to labour and delivery, to postpartum checkups was truly a breath of fresh air after two previous hospital births. The midwives are super friendly and personable, and they respected the choices I made along the way. I felt heard and cared for. When I was stressed around labour and being so close to 42 weeks along, they helped quell my worries and were very encouraging. Their bedside manner is great too, as they prioritized my comfort and informed me of everything they were doing, while seeking consent at every step. The whole experience felt like a collaboration rather than just a provider-patient relationship. I would definitely come back for any future pregnancy!"

"We had a wonderful experience with Crystal and Tara! From our first appointment to our birth, we felt the support the whole way through. We loved Crystal’s fun, silly energy, her attentiveness, and the education she provided. We never felt rushed at a single visit, all of our questions we always answered, and I always had so many, I would make a list for every prenatal! I also appreciated the approach that was taken as far as very low intervention. The day I went into labor I stayed home most of the day for early labor. I felt so relaxed once active labor started, the room was quiet and peaceful, we had the lights dimmed, twinkle lights up and some snacks around to make me comfortable. The team I had made the process very peaceful and easy. Overall it was a very magical experience and I would highly recommend them!"
